An early showcase for Purely Physical artist Yaws and Melbourne visiting artist Makeda.

London based producer Yaws explores repetition and feedback, creating unique textural builds that grow and evolve over time. His work explores how to input meaning into noise based compositions. Using run down, mostly inexpensive equipment, he blends subliminal-like obscured samples with broken decaying rhythms to create a type of lo-fi oddball techno. Recently Yaws has played with artists including Inga Mauer, Tarquin Manek, Randomer, Benjamin Damage and Giant Swan, as well as programming his first NTS show.

Makeda is interested in health, bass and creating utopic realites. Makeda's aesthetic is a unique combination of left-field electronic and socio-political criticism. Her goal is to encourage the concept of focusing one's resources and energy toward creating positive change. She has recently performed alongside My Disco, Asmara (Nguzunguzu / Future Brown), Air Max '97, David Chesworth (of Essendon Airport), and countless local Melbourn favourites.

Purely Physical is a London-based label recently inaugurated with the release of Yaws' 'Doubt' 12". Upcoming releases include a split LP from Russian lo-fi house producers Caapi and Nissan Groove (Oblast), as well as a cassette release from a collaborative project between Melbourne based producer Laila Sakini and poet Lucy Van in the mode of speech melody / tranquil electronics.
