Rock the Strand takes place on the fourth Thursday of every month in the hotel’s newly refurbished Lounge Bar. It is free to attend and revellers will be able to enjoy tipples from the extensive drinks menu, which includes bottled beer, ciders, aperitif and cocktails.
Tony Moore who has had a long and eclectic career in the music business curates the show. Tony started as an original member of Iron Maiden, and then went on to play keyboards in Cutting Crew through the 80’s. In the 90’s he launched the legendary Kashmir Klub where he created a stage for a whole new generation of acoustic artists to learn their craft and gain an audience.
Performers like Damien Rice, KT Tunstall, The Feeling, Imogen Heap and many more made their debut with him. For the last 14 years he has continued that passion for new music by introducing acts like Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson, James Bay and hundreds of others. Now, working with The Strand Palace Hotel, he will be bringing some of the most exciting and dynamic performers to central London.
Rock the Strand kicks off at 7.15pm on Thursday 27th April in the Lounge Bar at Strand Palace Hotel.
International award winning singer-songwriter Dan Olsen whose genre can best be described as “acoustic pop” is from the Faroe Islands and based in London, United Kingdom. Recently back from touring China, New York, South Africa and Russia. His songs have been picked for various film soundtracks (Knights of the Damned and Carnivore). Dan has started writing with Grammy and Brit award winning songwriters incl. Rob Davis (Kylie Minogue), Tim Fraser (Tina Turner), Martin Sutton (Celine Dion). 2017 is looking very promising as Dan has just signed with CAA (booking agency), Notting Hill Publishing, a record deal in China as well as signing with IMG Models Worldwide. Already with close to a million streams and sales online, look forward to more releases!
Coffeepot Drive is a Neo-Blues Rock band born and formed in Croydon. Formed of 7 members who are now the best of friends, they have played all over the UK but are looking forward to making their mark across the rest of the world. If you are looking for upbeat, driven songs with old school sass, they deliver. If you are looking for heartfelt ballads and classic storytelling, they have the lyrics to move you. Tony’s long and eclectic career in the music business began after he left Bristol, to move to London and become an original member of Iron Maiden. Throughout this time, he worked with the likes of Tanz Der Youth and Radio Java before becoming the becoming keyboard player in Cutting Crew – I Just Died In Your Arms.
For 2017 Tony is continuing to work and tour with ILONA as well as release new original material.
