Exhibition : April 11 - April 17th at 5th Base gallery, London
Focusing on the array of street gangs that the Warriors must encounter, and fend off in the movie, they have assembled 24 outstanding artists to take you on an illustrative adventure into New York’s toughest and most feared gangs! Each participant has been assigned their own personal gang from the movie, from which to create their interpretation.
They have an all-star line up of artists and illustrators, each based in the UK but with reputations spanning every corner on the globe:
Mr. Penfold // Jack Hudson // Suzi Kemp // Boneface // Robin Davey // Croz // Thomas Key // Jamie Jones // Mr Gauky // Tom Mac // Tom J Newell // Pete Murgatroyd // Fred Dirge // Robin Boyden // 45RPM // Benjamin Foxwell // Kate Prior // Dan Woodger // Loose Limbed // Sophie Alda // Biff Smith // James Burgess
The culmination of this project is a week-long, exhibition in the Brick Lane area of East London.
Running from April 11 - April 17th at 5th Base gallery, 23 Heneage street, E1 7LJ. With an opening party/private show on the evening of Thursday 10th April. Free to all!
The exhibition will be a platform to display all the illustrated work, along with additional physical pieces designed by the artists. Ranging from original paintings, sculptures, screen prints, t-shirts and taxidermy. All of which will be on sale exclusively at the exhibition.
They are also planning on compiling the work from the project into a book. The book will be A5 in size, perfect bound and will contain 42 pages of full colour illustrations. Every piece of artwork included in the book is a new design, created specially for this project. The first run of 100 books we are printing will be a limited edition.
