Considering my recent posts, you could say I'm slightly a fan of New York distribution company A24; but when they release films as varied and high quality as Green Room, The Witch and The Lobster, how can I not? Now they've debuted the trailer for David Lowery’s intimate and heartbreaking feature The Ghost Story, I can feel my sycophancy growing further.
Boasting a distinctive visual style, The Ghost Story stands out from the director’s previous work, such as last year's live-action adaption of Pete’s Dragon. Since then Lowery has kept himself busy, furtively shooting his next feature with Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck; Mara and Affleck previously collaborated with Lowery in Ain’t Them Bodies Saints.
The Ghost Story follows the story of a ghoul (replete with the classic bed sheet get-up) as he haunts the house he passed away in. From the first look at the trailer, it appears that it's Affleck’s character who is reliving the past in the house he lived in. With the response from Sundance being remarkably positive, The Ghost Story is added to our list of must see releases from the infallible A24.
