ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SIGNE PIERCE

The New York based artist arrived on the scene in 2015 when she featured in short film; American Reflexxx but it has been her ‘photography’ where she has made a name for herself. Signe Pierce has been creating neon filled dream worlds which straddle the fence between reality and fantasy featuring over-saturated palm trees, malls and laundromats. Although Pierce has a background in photography she refers to herself as a ‘Reality Artist’ because of the various media, mediums and conceptual paradoxes that she uses and brings to life in her work.

Her lurid use of colour, lighting and subject matter creates hyperreal worlds that have defined her work. Her most recent work, ‘Faux Realities’ is her first solo exhibition in the UK and perfectly named as Pierce uses a beautifully satisfying visual aesthetic and carefully chosen conceptual identity that forces you to question your perception of truth within each image.

You can catch this colour drenched virtual spectrum at the Anna Kultys Gallery until 1st July.
