In contemporary movies, CGI is a commonplace tool that allows filmmakers to create out of this world scenes, explosive action, character effects and far more. Flicks like Avatar and the Toy Story series are based on the strength of the technology. This clip shows the state of CGI in 1974, when the technology was still incredibly primitive yet would become commonplace mere decades later.
