Fundamentally we're interested in the edges of experience, developing new lines of inquiry by drawing on science facts and fictions, the natural world and phenomenon of the magical. These are investigated to negotiate where traditional scientific modes of expression end and where the art of emotion begins. We are interested specifically in the stories around science and it's transformative revelations. From genome sequencing and geological patterns, to LowFi scientific experiments conducted in our studio, we use science and its implications, both in its practical and theoretical application, to help construct and give meaning to our photographic process.

Where do you look for inspiration?

It is difficult to put into words where we look for inspiration as our reference sources seem so broad and random. An eclectic list could involve; The Eden Project, Alessandra's monstrous back garden, the rare fossils of Dale Rogers on Pimlico road, 80s fantasy computer games, J.G Ballard, Analog magazine, the paintings of De Chirico, the Hubble Space Telescope, Vauxhall Flower Market and the botanical feast around the local canal, which winds its way past our studio. These all play their part and when all else fails there is always our cabinet of magic tricks housed in the studio.

Who are your heroes?

One of our many hero's is the photographic conceptual landscape work of John Pfahl, who we're honored to be exhibiting with in September 2014 as part of a group show at the Southwest School of Art, titled Altering Spaces. And of course our other hero is the natural world and everything that still remains undiscovered within it.
