DYLAN JOHNSTON PHOTOGRAPHS SNAKE HUNTERS IN FLORIDA

For his series On The Hunt, shot in 2013 and 2016, Brooklyn-based photographer Dylan Johnston travelled around South Florida in search of hunters who aimed to restore the area's natural balance by tracking down Burmese Pythons. In contrast to the bravado of trophy hunting, Johnston spoke to the hunters and was struck by their commitment to restoring the area's viability by decreasing the Python's population. Some of Johnston's shots are warlike - smoke emanating from a distant area, greenery on fire, guns and camouflage - while the pictures of snakes are strangely calm, as hunters handle them and they slither on the floor. Here's a few of the shots, you can find many more here and follow Dylan on Instagram here.
