Although they are now engaging in a bitter $20 million lawsuit about equity in the Hoefler Type Foundry - the firm that has has designed fonts for everybody from The Wall Street Journal to the President of the United States - it’s incredible how much impact Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones have had on the world of lettering and font creation. Font Men profiles both before the massive row they had and has them discussing their ethos and what it takes to create a typeface – apparently the capital letters “O,” “H,” and “D” are the best starting points.
