GHANA MOVIE POSTERS

When VHS was introduced to Ghana in the 80s mobile cinemas took off. They were usually a one man operation involving a video player, small TV and - if possible -  a generator to keep the fun going from town to town.

To help attract audiences to these roaming platforms, vendors would hang hand-painted movie posters crafted by local artists to their stall/bike/car whatever.

At the peak of VHS popularity these posters could be seen everywhere, but now that most things have gone digital the mobile cinemas - and the posters - have all but disappeared.
