As with strikingly explicit dialogue and pop culture references, extreme violence is one of Quentin Tarantino's hallmarks, the ways characters are gored often being some of his memorable moments, just recall the Reservoir Dogs torture scene. This video analyses how Tarantino harnesses violence to create a miscellany of cinematic effects, such as humour, tension and as a way of controlling the viewer; it's not all blood and guts after all.
