INTENSE PHOTOS DEPICT THE FRENZIED CONSUMPTION OF EATING CONTESTS

Away from the glitz and glamour of Man V Food and the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating contest, smaller eating competitions take place all over America. For her latest series, 'Eat To Win,' Nina Berman photographed the intensity of these events, capturing the lbs and the fury of the unashamedly grotesque spectacles.

She describes it as 'the ferocity of consumption.' It makes sense, as the overriding feeling that comes with these photos is one of great anguish. I mean the guy below is literally sporting a cheese-induced Thousand Yard Stare.
