NEW YORK MUSEUM HIGHLIGHTS ARTISTS FROM TRUMP'S BANNED COUNTRIES LIST
From illustrators to musicians, many in the art world have given a firm thumbs down to Donald Trump's (now temporarily stalled) ban on people entering the U.S. from seven Muslim majority countries. New York's Museum Of Modern Art has just made its voice heard, highlighting works in their collection by artists from those countries, replacing pieces by Picasso, Matisse, Burri and more.
Alongside each piece is a caption reading "This work is by an artist from a nation whose citizens are being denied entry into the United States, according to a presidential executive order issued on January 27, 2017. This is one of several such artworks from the Museum’s collection installed throughout the fifth-floor galleries to affirm the ideals of welcome and freedom as vital to this Museum, as they are to the United States."
Here are some of the artists currently on show:
Ibrahim el-Salahi
Zaha Hadid
Shirana Shahbazi
Tala Madani
