In US photographer Adrain Chesser's ongoing project, “I Have Something To Tell You”, he photographs the reactions of friends and relatives after telling them that he has AIDS.

The reactions range from shock, to sympathy and sadness—they are honest and intimate emotions that people experience when dealing with such big, life changing news.

Chesser embarked on this journey to tackle his childhood fear of abandonment, “It occurred to me that if I ritualized the act of telling, that it might be possible to transform these childhood fears that were still [affecting] me as an adult,” he said.
