For her new series 'Idiot Box', Donna Stevens placed a bunch of kids in front of the comforting, familiar glow of the television, then photographed their faces as they melted into the screen. She decided to do the project after learning that American children watch on average 24 hours of television a week, not including time spent on other gadgets like iPads and video games.
The long term effects of such intense screen-time are up for debate. All I know is that I've shared these kids' expressions many times in my youth, but I turned out TV.
