SWEARING WITHOUT ACTUALLY SWEARING IN FILMS

Whether it's to aim for a lower age rating, a child saying the lines or maybe just to get creative beyond the usual blue language, films often employ evocative curses in lieu of proper swearing. It can speak to the personality of the characters - Kathy Bates's childlike language mixed with her malign intentions in Misery springs to mind - or the standards of the time, as Hollywood silver screen classics. Either way it can make for more memorable, interesting lines than the usual profanities- Scarface's record-breaking number of 'fucks' aside - and this video compiles a bunch, courtesy of Burger Fiction.
