THE ART OF BRICK

14 Friday 14th June 2013

New York artist Nathan Sawaya has taken his love for the toy one step further, quitting his job as a corporate lawyer to create huge sculptures made entirely of the plastic bricks.

Sawaya keeps his studio equipped with around 2 million bricks, using between 15,000 and 80,000 for each complex figure. His T-Rex, built for Singapore’s ArtScience Museum, is 20 feet long.

And what with other news of LEGO tube maps and building plans for a life-sized replica LEGO house in Denmark, perhaps it’s time we all ditch our day jobs and dust off our childhood building blocks.
