THE CHINESE TRADITION OF CHAIN SMOKING AT WEDDINGS

Big shout out to Dazed for alerting me to the photo collection of Thomas Sauvin. During his time in Beijing, the Frenchman has amassed a huge number of found images, many of which show the Chinese tradition of smoking at weddings. A lot of smoking. In fact, the bride is supposedly charged with lighting a cig for each man in attendance, so they can enjoy the marital union accompanied by the smooth rush of nicotine. Thomas is including the images in a new book called Until Death Do Us Part, which you can purchase here.

Thomas came across these photos at a recycling plant in Beijing, along with about a half million others. Keep your eyes on Don't Panic today, because I'm going to be doing another post featuring a buttload more of his found photography.

Don't Panic attempt to credit photographers and content owners wherever possible, however due to the sheer size and nature of the internet this is sometimes impractical or impossible. If you see any images on our site which you believe belong to yourself or another and we have incorrectly used it please let us know at panic@dontpaniconline.com and we will respond asap.
