That was until we all realised that actually, 3D cinema is just wearing some annoying glasses for a couple hours. Oh and you have to pay A LOT of money for those glasses and your ticket. You’re out of money before you even get to the popcorn guy.
Yeah well, UK cinemas just topped that and went all out with the first 4D cinema.
The 4D cinema will be introduced in the Cineworld multiplex in Milton Keynes later this month. The new cinema experience will have seats shaking from side to side and moving backward and forwards in sync with the movie’s action scenes.
Audiences can also expect gusts of air, different scents and water sprayed from the headsets of cinema seats. I don’t think many people are going to be too impressed when their seat sprays water all over them whilst they’re trying to be attractive on a date.
The 4D screen opens on January 30th with a capacity of 140 people. Colin Firth’s new film, ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ will be the first film to be shown in 4D. With, wait for it, tickets costing £14.90. That price is a bit mad but I’ll probably still go and watch a 4D film. Just the once.
