Like a lot of people, I first discovered Ryan McGinley's work in VICE, back when VICE was a magazine my 15-year-old self picked up in Route One because it had boobs in it and it was free. The photographer was rightly regarded as American photograpy's precocious golden boy, securing an exhibition at the Whitney museum at the tender age of 25.
In the 12 years since then, he's racked up a bunch of awards and released a few glossy coffee table books. Including his latest one, titled Way Far. I used to look at McGinley's work and dream of a life similar to the scenes captured in his photos. Now I just think "why are these people naked and how come they don't appear to have jobs."
Age has clearly sullied me and made me more jealous. Way Far is released by Rizzoli on 20 October. Also these pics are NSFW, if your boss is a square.
