WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU ART SCHOOL YOU USED TO BE COOL

I'm not really sure how today's art students wile away their time, but I assume it involves uploading shitty pictures of their latest 'installation' to Cargo Collective, photographing the Heygate estate and dip-dying their hair pink.

There was a time when this wasn't the case. In the 1970s, art school served as a segue between high school and real life - as opposed to training for your future 'career' - when you did little more than get naked and generally not take things too seriously. Michael Jang documented his time at CalArts in the 70s in a series of pics that he's recently dumped on his Instagram, and it looks like it was a truly raucous time, or as he says, 'when art school was like Animal House.'

Keep your eyes peeled for Bowie and Hasselhoff btw. Far out.
