BUILD YOUR OWN BICYCLE

01 Monday 01st November 2010
MyVelo have created an amazing new bike concept, the ingenious yet simple idea is that you build your own bike by choosing everything from the frame, saddle, handlebars and color to the wheels, mudguards and grips. However don’t worry; it’s not like a flat pack wardrobe where you have to spend hours piecing it together in your front room because MyVelo build it for you in their West London workshop. You can have your own customized bike made and delivered to your door within a week. Not a bad deal for £350.

If you want to ride through the streets of London on a bike with a pink frame, brown saddle and green grips, there’s now no reason you can’t. Perhaps you’re bored of your old one gear fixed bike or perhaps you’ve never found the perfect model, after all a bike is personal choice and decision so here’s your chance to design your own exactly to your liking.

The process is pretty straightforward – you can either go online at www.myvelo.co.uk where there is a simple Build Your Bike section that allows you to customize your bike by selecting your color preference. If you can’t decide, there is a ‘randomise button’ that chooses the colors for you and comes out with a mixture of wacky color clashes. If you’re being spoilt for choice and still can’t decide there’s a useful ‘popular build’ button that shows you the top ten bikes. You can choose, customize and buy your new bike from your computer without even needing to leave your house and it will be delivered the next week. Genius.

Although, understandably some people might like to see what they are getting before they buy it. That’s no problem all you need to do is head down to North Acton and have a browse round the MyVelo showroom. With fully adjustable handlebars, a lightweight aluminum frame and 21 gears, the MyVelo bikes are incredibly good value for money.

Whether you cycle for leisure, to get fit or commute, everyone knows that cycling is good for you and now it just got even better.
