The good guys at Guinness are ending their sponsorship of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade over a rule that stops LGBT organizations participating.
Organizers of the parade say LGBT groups aren't actually prohibited from marching, but they aren't allowed to carry signs or do anything that identifies themselves as such (which is ridiculous, as every other group can). According to ABC 7, Guinness issued a statement on Sunday night:
Guinness has a strong history of supporting diversity and being an advocate for equality for all. We were hopeful that the policy of exclusion would be reversed for this year's parade. As this has not come to pass, Guinness has withdrawn its participation. We will continue to work with community leaders to ensure that future parades have an inclusionary policy.
Good for them!
