A Mexican drug cartel with numerous gold stars in arts and crafts almost pulled off the best smuggling food guise since the cocaine sandwich.
Border Patrol agents apprehended a truck that appeared to be carrying a full shipment of watermelons outside of Tucson, Arizona, last Thursday. After X-raying the fruit (which is a thing they do btw), the watermelons turned out to not only be fake, but also stuffed with millions of dollars worth of Marijuana.
Good to know cartels aren't just beheading journalists and gold-plating they're AK-47s. They're also employing (read: holding at gun-point) legions of workers to fashion fake watermelons out of papier mache and acrylic paint. Some people just love the greenery, I guess.
