SAD DESK LUNCH IS A SAD SIGN OF THE TIMES

Nothing signals our economy's flaws quite as subtly as a desk-bound lunch. We're under so much pressure to scrape a living together in a hyper-competitive market that we're scared to step away from our montitors - even for an hour. It's no wonder we struggle to reconcile our professional life with our personal life. We can barely bring ourselves to sit outside for a sandwich.

The website Sad Desk Lunch is cataloging these bleak dining experiences thanks to a depressingly large resource of user submissions. According to the site, 62% of American office workers eat lunch at their desk. I'm sure the figure is similar in the UK, and I wouldn't doubt it's even higher in London.

Fear these photos. They're almost as telling a picture of neo-liberalism as any painted by George Monbiot.
