Ry X - Berlin
I discovered, just as many, this artist by a remix by Âme of "Howling". Ever since I am listing all he does and this is just magnificent. The voice is incredible, and an exceptional melody.
Agnes Obel - Fuel to Fire
Track from her second album. I very much liked her first, but his second album even more. I basically could have chosen any track from this album, I love it all. A daring album, build with piano, cello, and her beautiful voice. Perfect to relax!
Radiohead - No Suprises
Actually I only became a Radiohead fan rather late, well at least not from the very beginning. But in the meantime I bought all their albums and for me they are one of the best bands within this genre. I could have chosen so many other titles, but for me this remains my favourite. It's even one of my favourite pieces of music in genrel, crossing all genres.
Prince - I Wanna Be Your Lover
I listen and listened to many many different genres but funk remains to be my most important influence. Difficult to choose a track but this one is a big classic for me. It's the type of music I listen when I am not feeling too great and it immediately puts me in a good mood and gives me the energy. It makes me want to dance.
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Another style I feel affiliated too is soul and Marvin Gaye remains one of the most important artists. This one is a classic, taken from an outstanding album. Everything is perfect: the arrangements, the melodies, everything.
What I play...
Nightmares On Wax - A Case Of Funk (Loco Dice Remix) - Warp
The original was released early 90-ies. When I heard Dice was doing a rmx for this I was a bit surprised but mostly curious to hear what he would do. And this is an excellent remix. He kept one of the essential elements and that is the bassline, the groove.
Matthias Tanzmann - Reframed - Moon Harbour
One of the tracks I play the most at this point. I much like the groove, the bassline with a flanging sound that gives it an original touch.
Cristoph - Let Me Sleep - Noir Music
What I like most is the track sounds modern though has an old school side to it, with a terribly effective hypnotic rhythm. I think we will hear a lot from this producer in the near future. Also the other tracks on this EP are great.
Lee Van Dowski & Dean Demanuele - Inside out - Mobilee
This track I again like again for the groove, but also for the break with a slightly 'dark' edge, and and how it restarts on the groove side of things. Very effective.
Theo Parrish - Falling Up (Carl Craig Remix) - Third Ear Recordings
And as last, this track that has become a classic. An old track that I play in almost all my sets, and I just keep on loving it.
