Booze brand Ballantine’s have teamed up with London-based drummer and former Dead Swan Ben Mead to create an experimental film that manages to visualise the shape of sound in “The Art of Drumming.” This short doc follows Mead as he discusses his life story, philosophy, and approach to creativity and music, which is all well and good, but the main attraction is him playing the drums with LED ‘light trails’ on his drumsticks. Inspired by the ‘light painting’ that you see in stills photography, this project was possible with the development of new technology that allowed for all effects to be done in-camera. Clever!
