As if Arcadia wasn’t enough, Boomtown Festival would like to welcome you to the ‘Circus of Boom’, a series of warm up nights in anticipation for B-Town’s 7th festival coming this summer and they’ll be going down right here in beautiful Bristol.
There will be 8 themed nights to get us all excited for their next August party, which is 202 days away for all of you impatiently counting down.
Each night will represent one of the festivals infamous districts, so whether you loved Trenchtown or Mayfair Avenue, there will be an event for everyone, making your upcoming weekends pretty fucking spectacular.
The Boomtown gang say to ‘expect the full on Boomtown experience’ and it’s all kicking off next Friday 30th January. With a ‘hefty dose of toe-tapping Scrumpy & Western action’ we’re promised the most ‘rootin’ and tootin’ night in town’ at the Wild West Launch Party.
The first ‘Circus of Boom’ event combines music from Pronghorn, Skimmity Hitchers and the Doghouse Boat Boys with a full showcase of theatrical hillbilly, blue grass and cow punk and a Wild West fancy dress.
If Boomtown is your true love then Valentines 2015 is sorted with their next event, taking homage from Whistler’s Green. Folk, folk and more folk on Saturday 14th February with music from 3 Daft Moneys, John Langan Band, Firepit Collective and Gentlemen of Few.
You’ll still swooning from B-Town romance when you check out Bristol’s temporary Chinatown on Satuday 21st February. Ska punk, ska folk, nu ska, oldschool ska, Jamacian ska – interested? There’s more, ‘Circus of Boom’ will be welcoming Neville Staple from the mighty Specials as well as the ska-tastic Counting Coins and Cut Capers.
Time for my personal favorite, Mayfair Avenue, coming Friday 27th February. Bringing us the best electro swing (with a little help from some glamorous flapper ladies) are Boomtown big names Big Swing Sound System, Electric Swing Circus and Molotov Jukebox. Think top hats, Great Gatsby, flapper dresses and feathers to fancy dress yourself into the 1920’s.
Once the elegance from Mayfair Avenue’s soirée has simmered down, you should get yourself rough and ready for rum and rickety rafters as Old Town presents their Pirate Village.
Giving you all the pirate, gypsy and balkan you want are Calico Jack, Tragic Roundabout and a special headliner on Friday 6th March. Pirate costumes are a must for this event; expect mischief and foolishness from the start.
‘Circus of Boom’ will then be giving everyone a little well-earned rest. Only a little one though, as they’re back Sunday 5th April for a special daytime event. Kidztown comes to Bristol with an Easter Extravaganza for the mini Boom-lovers and their Boom-loving parents. More information and tickets on this event are coming soon.
Next on the stage is Barrio Loco coming at you on Friday 10th April. 9 piece hip hop crew Mouse Outfit will be playing live are Dead Player (High Focus) and Bristol’s very own Gardna. 934 Barrio Loco lovers have already said they’re attending so looks like this party is not to be missed.
And finally, to top it all off we have the infamous Trenchtown and a line up of reggae and dub. The ‘Circus of Boom’ closing party will host none other than The Skints - plus special guests! Clear your calendar for Sunday 19th April, who cares if you’ve got work on Monday? The Lion’s Den never goes work on Mondays.
All events are at a temporary Bristol location in Stokes Croft – Circus of Boom, Unit C, Dean Street, St Pauls, BS2 8SF.
Tickets range from £7 - £12, all events are held from 7pm to 11pm.
