In a move that will surely encourage Heavy Metal communion, former DJ turned Buddhist priest Gyōsen Asakura is now putting on ‘techno memorial services’ at his temple.

Asakura has already hosted two services, which combine traditional chants with colourful lights and his own set full of IDM and breakbeat tracks. So, not exactly a Bonobo set. Due to the scale of the production he’s taken to crowdfunding site Readyfor to hold more services, achieving his goal of 300,000 yen (£2122) with 11 days left but he’s offering mix CDs as a perk for more funding.

If this sounds like the perfect mix of a euphoria and a celebration of life, the next service is planned for the 3rd May, 2017 at the Shō-onji Buddhist temple in Fukui City. Here's a recent event at his temple, catch a Boiler Room edition coming soon undoubtedly...
