The epicenter for Ed Banger’s cross over into electro-hip-hop is Parisian based Feadz. Although best known for Uffie’s banging record production the blend of dance floor smashing hits can be traced back to working with master in the field Mr Oizo and SebestiAn the last of Busy P’s acts to rock out the Neon Noise Project’s speaker system. A ‘deep-deep’ affliction for nineties house crunked up with a buzzing live synthesizer pushes the tempo while staying finely tuned to a crowed eagerly awaiting those insane drops. A new album is in production inclusive with Happy Meal style artwork is on the way. For now Don’t Panic hold back to talk about remixes, touring and bringing back the feeling of your first rave.
Surkin who releases on another great Parisian label Institubes is co-headlining the main room with you at Neon Noise Project. Do you have a similar approach and style to DJing?
Surkin is playing with Ableton on his laptop, so it’s very different. But on the other side Surkin and me are both very influenced by 90s Chicago house, amongst other stuff. He and I are always putting back old tracks that only a few people know in our sets since we have a large selection of electronic music.
You do a lot of remixes, what are your favorite remixes that other people have done and why?
My favorite remixes are the AFX remix of 808 State that he released himself on Rephlex. The other magic remix that I can think of is Mr Oizo’s remix of Ark, Le Magicien D’os out on Brief recording.
You stopped doing scratches. Do you think you’ll stop doing remixes and move on to purely producing or is remixing always going to be a lot of fun?
Making music is more fun than doing remixes for me. Starting from Scratches, being free, was fantastic when I started because you could find new moves all by yourself. When the Scratch video tutorials came along it became more technical and less spontaneous.
Could you tell us about the new album you are producing?
A big EPwill come out in October before the LPwith something like eight tracks. So yes, there are some more ambitious tracks for once, even ones where I sing. There is a lot of work on the voices to reach something different because I’m not that crazy about my voice. There is also some pure Techno too. I got one featuring L-VIS 1990 and one featuring Boyz Noize. There’s also some more bonus gifts included.
You released Happy Meal EP which Ed Banger made an amazing lunch box art work for, what the best Happy Meal you’ve ever had?
The best Happy Meal for me is when you you’ve got love, money, work, inspiration and that you are far from home. That’s what I felt like when I was doing this record.
Why call yourself Feadz?
It just came from the graffiti and I love the letter z. It’s also a name that is defiantly not French and as a French guy, I like that. 
Is there any interesting equipment you’ve started using to produce?
I just recently bought the Minitron from Korg which is an amazing wild very small analog synthesizer. I’m taking it to all my DJ sets and having fun with it whole I play.
Do you think you have a specific style that you aim for through all your tracks?
I think music really depends on what you feel. So it can be very different but I know what I like. I aim for this sensation that has stuck with me since listening to music a long time ago because I think you try and re-create what you felt like as a child who doesn’t know anything about music and feels only that special thing.
What has touring been like this year, any good events or people you managed to meet up with?
I love to play. I’ve been a DJ for seventeen years now. I think it’s what I do best in this world. SO touring is always great. This year I met L-VIS 1990 who I’m getting along with very well. I also met Jesse Rose in Miami who seems to be a very fun guy. Hopefully I’ll meet him again soon. I’m always glad to meet musicians that I like on the road.
