Passengers throw impromptu graduation ceremony for student stuck on train

A student whose train broke down on the way to his graduation was given an impromptu ceremony by his fellow passengers.

Members of the public contributed to a makeshift ceremony for 22 year-old Jerich Marco Alcantara. One individual drew up a mock certificate on their phone, passing it to Jerich with a handshake, while another streamed “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” by Green Day on YouTube.

As with all good things happening world-over, the whole shebang was caught on film and uploaded to Facebook. Check it out below.

 

Marvel publishes first ever queer Latina superhero

Marvel Comics has a new superhero: America Chabez - a queer Latina with superhero strength and the ability to jump between dimensions.

The hero’s adventures are documented in new series “America” by Gabby Rivera, who herself identifies as a “queer, brown, like, nerd burger”.

“If you can have folks that are, like, giant blue beasts and, like, you know, mutants, then there’s room for a story about a little, like, Latina lesbian punching through other dimensions, you know.”

Right on.

 

Ariana Grande concert raises £2 million for those affected by Manchester terrorist attack

It was at an Ariana Grande concert last month that a suicide bomber detonated a nail bomb, killing 22 people and injuring 116 others.

Last night – just two weeks later – Grande returned to the city to host a benefit concert at Manchester’s Old Trafford cricket ground, with guest appearances from Katy Perry, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Liam Gallagher and Take That – and in the process raised over £2 million for families affected by the attack.
