Having a Field Day

For one day in August music lovers will descend on Victoria Park in hordes, and gear themselves up for the all-day extravaganza that is Field Day Festival. More of an all-day music fête for the indie and electronically-inclined, the term festival is used lightly because there's no camping involved. Instead, revellers party it up for an entire day then have the chance to stagger home on night buses or the last tube. Awesome.

Field Day runs in collaboration with London promoters Eat Your Own Ears and has pulled together a great line-up. With only a day to explore all they'll have on offer, the real challenge will probably be dashing from one stage to the next.

So far Anna Calvi, Cloud Control, Zola Jesus, SBTRKT, Mount Kimbie, Gruff Rhys and Wild Beasts are confirmed to play. Domino Records' latest project About Group are also on the bill alongside the sample-heavy work of Clock Opera, Hype Williams and Chad Valley. The day's line-up reads really well for anyone who wants to catch up on all the new acts out this last year that they may have missed on autumn and spring tours.

Kraut-rock veterans Faust will be taking to the stage before Blogger's Delight, EYOE and electro sensation Erol Alkan take to the decks to transition Field Day-ers from dusk into night. With the festival due to start at 11am and run until just before midnight, pacing yourselves will be key, if you know what we mean.

Field Day Festival is on for one day only, on Saturday the 6th of August. Tickets for the day cost £44 with booking fee, and are available here. Check out the rest of the line-up on the Field Day site.
