IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC: GOTSOME

13 Thursday 13th March 2014

Hi Guys - DJing can mean a lot of travelling, late nights and an irregular sleeping pattern, how do you unwind and relax?

ADAM: Watching True Detective, and House of Cards. I also, recently started doing yoga.

ALEX: I've got some really good hypnosis tracks I listen to… Although I'm worried one day Adam will hack into it and I'll start inexplicably making him sandwiches.

What festivals can we expect to see GotSome at this summer?

ADAM: We've got a bunch coming up including Block Party in Bournemouth, Love Saves The Day in Bristol, We Are FSTVL in Essex, Hideout in Croatia, and Global Gathering in Stratford Upon Avon and the big one Glastonbury! Busy times ahead!

ALEX: Keep an eye on our twitter of more info as we'll be announcing more in the coming months.

If you could live in any era of history which would you choose?

ADAM: Maybe the 50/60's when Rock 'n' Roll started. That would be pretty crazy.

ALEX: Yeah, I don't think I'd like to go too far back. I'd love to be making music in the 70s, when people started using synthesisers to write disco and funk.

Can you give us the best film(s) you have watched recently?

ADAM: Dallas Buyers Club & Wolf of Wall Street. McConaughey's on a roll.

ALEX: I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the Lego Movie. Sometimes you just want to watch something that's really entertaining and fun to watch. Although now I can't get the song out of my head!

Best book/comic?

ALEX: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. Ok, so they made it into a rubbish film… but the book is incredible. The innovative way he uses type and words on the page to tell a story is genius.

What was your favourite cartoon/tv show growing up?

ADAM: City of Gold & Thunder Cats. Had a load of the toys where the eyes light up.

ALEX: Basically anything with robots in it. Transformers (obviously), Centurions, GoBots… and Bertha.

Who are your heroes?

ALEX: I saw Stevie Wonder play Glastonbury a few years ago. That was pretty much as good as it gets.

Where is your favourite place to eat in Bristol? Any tips for our readers?

ADAM: The Urban Standard on Gloucester Road. The ribs and burgers are killer.

ALEX: I'd go for the Kensington Arms for their exquisite sunday roast.

Where is your favourite place to party?

ADAM: My fav place to party in Bristol is the Pipe & Slippers, as it often ends up with dancing on the tables.

ALEX: Although it can be a bit full on when it's rammed, you'd be hard pushed to beat Motion if you want a big night out. Especially if you want to see the big names in electronic music.

Whats next for Gotsome in 2014?

ALEX: We're really excited about the full release of Bassline at the end of March on Defected. On top of this, we've got a batch of remixes coming out over the next couple of months, including our take on Jus Now's Tun Up, Junior Jack’s Thrill Me and Sure Thing's Holding You Tight, which is also available on the 14th of March as part of the Jack Beats Fabric Live compilation.

ADAM: World domination and shouting about how great Bristol music is…!

Thanks guys!
