Those eagle-eyed heroes at Metal Sucks have done the world of music a real service, after they were alerted to a nugget of history that may change the course of humanity as we know it. Or just make you laugh a bit, whatever. As it turns out, megasuperstar Katy Perry was once a backup singer for corny Christian rockers P.O.D.!!!!

You know, those guys who did that song "AYYYYY FEEL SOO ALIIIVE, FOR THE VERY FIRST TYYYUM" and who once admitted on MTV Cribs that one of the band members has a daughter named Nevaeh (Heaven spelt backwards). In their defense, they also cut that jam "BOOM HERE COME DA BOIZ FROM THE SOUTH" which has soundtracked every good knockout compilation ever featured on YouTube. Seminal stuff.

Anyways, here's Katy performing with them on the tonight show with Jay Leno!

And here she is in the bloody official video for 'Goodbye For Now'!

Of course, none of this should really come as a surprise. For one thing, it's already on KP's Wiki. For another, she started her career as a bible-thumping Christ-pop princess, one that would defintely try to get an in with POD's inexplicable success.

POD's 'Goodbye for Now' was released in 2006. Two years later, Katy would reach global fame with 'I Kissed A Girl.'

But deep down, I bet that fame doesn't make her feel as ALIVE as she did with the boys from the South.

BOOM.
