MATHS CLASS AND THE MENSA TEST

Maths Class, according to their Myspace, are the newest "post-ironic, self-destructive, dada, alternative, disco, passport, office, swot, indie, pop, art, eagle, forty-two, en, apple, core" band to explode from Brighton's guitar-music scene. We weren't too familiar with the whole post-ironic, self-destructive, dada, alternative, disco, passport, office, swot, indie, pop, art, eagle, forty-two, en, apple, core scene, so we decided to head down to one of their gigs.

Three guesses as to who got the lowest mark in the whole class...

The gig was great and the band put on an amazing live performance - the sort of hardcore math-rock that makes the kids bounce off the walls and beat the crap out of each other in spinning mosh-pits. In short we realised Maths Class definitely do know how to rock a venue, but how much do they know about maths?

We set the band up with a Mensa-level test to be marked and commented on by an official 'Mensalist'. Unfortunately the band's completely i.n.s.a.n.e answers to the questions left the poor woman totally lost and perplexed, hot tears of confusion pouring down her face.

Luckily our good friend Nick Wolfe, teacher at the prestigious Charlton Manor junior school, was able to step in and save the day. Nick is used to dealing with the minds of the young and permanently confused and he assured us he’d have no problem grading the class.

NO conferring, NO mobile phones, NO groupies and NO checking each other's papers. Right lads you have 20 minutes. You may begin.
The results are below and in the meantime you can download an exclusive Maths Class song called Conversations and Smoke Signal here.

ANDY DAVIES (GUITAR, VOCALS)

Andy actually did really well in the test. Despite his repeated use of foul-language he managed to impress all with his basic knowledge of reading, writing and arithmetic (the three Rs).

TIM SKETCHLEY (SYNTH, VOCALS)

Tim Sketchley also managed to do pretty well when he decided to apply himself properly. Good, but must try harder in future.
