A unique blend of performance and music, NEW MUSIC CITIES is a globe-spanning series of cinematic portraits of cities and the music scenes within them. Each instalment features pioneering musical figures with a connection to their respective city: punk innovator Richard Hell in New York, Swedish singer-songwriter José González in Gothenburg, south London native Roots Manuva on his home soil and international DJ Gilles Peterson in Tokyo. This is the first project from AllSaints Studios, in partnership with Dazed Vision.
Episode two delves into south London’s music scene, with local hip hop pioneer Roots Manuva narrating as local electronic music duo Mount Kimbie give a live performance on a rooftop (below). The episode also features breakout star Katy B, young soul and R&B vocalist Tawiah and multitasking producer and singer-songwriter Kwes.
