For those who missed the performance, prepare to swoon over the video below. 'Keep on Shining' is taken from Harding's new release, and highly acclaimed debut album, Soul Power (out now on ANTI- Records).
Harding’s style was born in Michigan and bred on the road. His progressive journey began with gospel, singing alongside his evangelising mother from childhood.
“Gospel is inspiring,” says Harding. “From hardship and trials, you make something beautiful. It’s the history of black people in America, what happened to us during slavery, it’s the foundation of blues, R&B, soul, country, rock.”.
The album, released earlier this year, is raw and full of conviction. And yes, it speaks of the past but 'Soul Power' has certainly brought gospel slap-bang in to the now. Modern and electrifying, Harding belongs in 2015 and after a whirlwind year of touring the US with Jack White, owning the stage at SXSW and captivating audiences across Europe we cannot wait to welcome him to the UK.
Harding will be appearing at UK and Ireland festivals this summer including Latitude, Electric Picnic and End of the Road as well as playing a headline London show in the industrial walls of the Village Underground on October 28th, 2015.
