Riton (L) & Mehdi (R)

Is your French DJ name a reflection of the European influences in your music?

I just really like French girls so I'm trying to get a head start.

How do you describe your sound?

How did growing up in Newcastle influence your music?

Really apart from the local guys at the record store and club Shinding and the few raves I hit as a kid, there wasn't a musical 'sound' from Newcastle as such.

Your discography is more eclectic than Boy George’s wardrobe – how do you keep your sound fresh?

I just love new music and want to make people dance.

A lot of your residencies have been in Shoreditch, how have you noticed the area change over the years?

It's not really got much of a club scene anymore which is sad. I love the restaurants, though. But that's always what happens to any trendy area.

Can you tell me about the Carte Blanche project with DJ Medhi?

Carte Blanche is going super well. Me and Mehdi are best of buddies and love touring together. We're doing tons of festivals this summer with our revue show and we have these amazing girls who dance for us, too.

We read that you got into Krautrock through your brother-in-law when he asked you to DJ at his wedding. What do you want played for your first dance?

I don't think I'll be getting hitched any time soon - me and Mehdi were asking for a civil partnership though.

What festivals are you looking forward to this coming season?

Primavera and Eurokeenies have been highlights so far - I'm looking forward to Bestival, too.

What should we expect to hear on Saturday and from your coming summer sets?

I've got a new label starting right now so I've got a few hits to play from there!
