ROUGH TRADE EAST: THE SNOWMAN AND THE SNOWDOG FILM SCREENING + LIVE ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE

Written by Don't Panic
17 Monday 17th November 2014

The live performance starts at 6.30pm, and will see Andy Burrows and Ilan Eshkeri perform acoustic versions of songs from their magical soundtrack, as well as Andy's new single, See A Girl, before a special festive screening of The Snowman and The Snowdog. Andy and Ilan will sign copies of the new white vinyl (and Andy's Fall Together Again) for fans and answer any questions."

About The Snowman and The Snowdog

"Originally published in 1978, The Snowman, created and illustrated by Raymond Briggs, has become one of the world's most popular children's books. Available in 15 languages it has sold in excess of 8.5 million copies worldwide with over 3 million of these sales in the UK published under Puffin editions. Adapted for screen by producer John Coates, the Oscar-nominated animation launched on Channel 4 in its inaugural year in 1982 and has been repeated every Christmas since. The sequel, The Snowman and The Snowdog premiered on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve 2012 and was seen by over 10 million people over the festive period. The Snowman brand now enjoys an international audience with global broadcast of the sequel along with an array of consumer products available in numerous territories around the world. Snowman Enterprises Limited (SEL) is a Penguin owned company."

About Fall Together Again

"Incredibly Andy Burrows' tenth album release, between past solo albums and his recordings with Razorlight, We Are Scientists, Smith & Burrows, and The Snowman and The Snowdog, Fall Together Again is brilliantly, unashamedly melodic, the kind of record where the earworms patiently queue up to present themselves one after the other; where songs open out into soaring choruses that soon give way to brighter and ever bolder hooks. It's a record imbued with the spirit of early McCartney solo albums and sunroof-down daydream soul. It's shot through with the kind of sun-dappled soft rock that used to radiate from American FM radios in mid-70's. Following the success of his solo album, Company (2012), which spawned four Radio 2 A-listed singles, from the chain gang chant of As Good As Gone to the Lindsey Buckingham-esque Who Are You Now? via the freewheelin' City To Coast, Fall Together Again has all the bliss and brightness of an open coast road in summer. It's the record that puts Andy Burrows' past behind him and should see him rightly recognised as one of our boldest and most consistent songwriters."

About Ilan Eshkeri

"Ilan Eshkeri is a composer known for his film scores to Stardust, The Young Victoria and Kick-Ass as well as for his collaborations with recording artists. His career is notable for its diversity; recently Eshkeri scored Still Alice starring Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin and Kristen Stewart, Kevin Macdonald's Black Sea featuring Jude Law, 47 Ronin starring Keanu Reeve's, Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, and the Oscar nominated Invisible Woman, Ralph Fiennes' second outing as a director."
