Legendary indie record label XL Recordings has announced plans to release a new EP by leftfield grime duo Mumdance and Novelist. The record will feature two new tracks, ‘1 Sec’ and ‘Shook’ - the latter of which can be streamed below.
The pair first teamed up earlier this year to bring us the deconstructed club smasher ‘Take Time’, which dropped on Rinse in June. ‘Shook’ explores similar territories, with Novelist’s steady, assertive flow once again providing the perfect counterpart to Mumdance’s unhinged production style.
The announcement comes at the end of a stellar year for both parties - Mumdance has released standout records on Tectonic, Rinse and Unknown To The Unknown, whilst Novelist has gained mounting support from some of the most respected MCs and DJs in the scene, culminating in an inclusion in the BBCs 'Sounds of 2015' poll. It is safe to assume that next year will be a big one for the boy wonder - afterall, we all remember what happened the last time XL signed a young grime MC.
The '1 Sec' EP will drop on 20th January next year.
