THE HUMAN JUKEBOX

If you’re anything like us, you’ve had many a night ruined by an obnoxious DJ refusing to play your favourite tunes. Thanks to Human Jukebox, a unique interactive music experience, those days are no longer! Enlisting the services of BIGkids, one of the most hotly-tipped bands around at the moment, guests got the chance to be their own DJ at W Hotel in Leicester Square on Tuesday 30th October.

Picking from a song menu, including classics like ‘A Message to You’ by The Specials, guests were serenaded by BIGkids at the hotel bar, in the restaurant, or even in the lift (always a nice alternative to the usual light-jazz ‘musak’). The fun didn’t stop there, however. Guests could also choose to do away with that most cursed of sounds – the grating beep of your morning alarm – and be sung awake by the band. We don’t know about you, but we never want to start the day in any other way!

Buzzing from the success of their London venture, the Human Jukebox flew across the Atlantic to take their innovative experience to resident New Yorkers. On 8th November, a doorman pushed a luggage trolley into Time Square's W Hotel. On it were no suitcases, however, but Nashville’s best electro-pop duo, Cherub!

Assuming jukebox duties, the band were on hand to play whatever guests desired from their music menu: from Outkast’s classic ‘Hey Ya!’ to George Michael’s floor-filler ‘Faith’ and many more. Just when you thought staying at Time Square couldn't get any cooler - it just did!
