Shedding a little light on Stan Smith’s previously clandestine skating prowess, adidas has released a tongue-very-firmly-in-cheek video showcasing the legend’s impact on well known skaters like The Gonz, Dennis Busenitz, Matt Hensley, and Lucas Puig.
Nestor Judkins wears Wimbledon-appropriate garments and plays a young, skating Stan Smith, reenacting techniques as Mark Gonzales, AKA “a diet Stan Smith,” tells tales of John McEnroe stealing moves.
The video is an inventive campaign for adidas’ new Stan Smith Skate shoe available on their website right now.
"Many people already know Stanley Roger Smith as two time Grand Slam singles champion, one of the greatest tennis players of all time. What people don't know is that Stan has been a lifelong skater since his childhood in the 50's. For the release of the Stan Smith Skate we proudly introduce the secret life of the man behind the legendary shoe that was initially designed for use on a tennis court."
