If you felt like you were missing out on showing the Tories you can fight back, then do not fret, anti-austerity protests in Bristol will kick off today (Wednesday) at 5pm at the Fountains. 3,200 people have said they are attending the event on facebook, with over 12,000 people being invited.
Violence at London Protests on the weekend but Bristol Protests will be “peaceful”
Here at Don’t Panic! we spoke to Hannah Patterson, from Bristol Against Austerity, one of the organisers of the demonstration, she told us what the march was for, “we know that David Cameron is in power now but we can show him and the government we’re not going to take all the cuts and privatisation that has caused such problems for the poorest in society, we feel Bristol is a good place to have it with so much Labour support here.”
Whilst it is clear young people are angry, anyone there to make a scene will not be tolerated, “We have been in contact with the protesters from London but we are discouraging any kind of violence, this is a peaceful protest against austerity.” The march will last a couple of hours, “the plan is to head up Park Street go round the triangle, back down through St Nicks and on into Castle Park, this isn’t the only thing we’ll be doing, we have a host of other events planned, just like us on facebook for any news” If you fancy going along here’s the event
