The other night, hundreds of protestors took to Westfield Stratford in a show of solidarity for Eric Garner, the New Yorker choked to death by a NYPD officer earlier this year. While the decision to not indict the man responsible was insane (even George Bush was confused by it) I don't really see the sense of staging a die-in over a ruling in NYC inside an Australian company's mall in east London.
As unjust as Garner's death was, we've got our own problems. Three people have died in Metropolitan Police custody in 2014 alone. We should be protesting about that. And about the other issues plaguing our native police force. Like the ones listed on these anti-Met posters popping up across London.
Word on the street is that STRIKE! Magazine is responsible for them.
