Arc Bar has been stripped of it's premises licence following the managements inability to work with the local council and police. However this is certainly not the first time the venue has had it's licence revoked, with it's most recent closing in July 2013 following a police review in March earlier in the year.
Despite owner Edward Clarke's persistent to keep the club open, a spot check at the end of January revealed 24 breaches of the licence. On monday, Bristol Magistrates Court stripped Clarke of his licence following a four day trial, with costs of £17,400 given to to the council.
“The management at the venue chose not to engage with us in taking their responsibilities seriously and they didn’t respond appropriately. This was their biggest downfall. In this case, both the licensing committee and the court were satisfied that this club was not properly managed or safe.”
– Keith Rundle (Avon and Somerset police’s neighbourhood Inspector for the city centre)
