Soofiya Andry wants you to start talking about periods. The 23-year-old MA student is crowdfunding a new zine called Bloody Hell, which "has an intersectional feminist ethos and includes artwork submissions, written pieces, drawings and more from a variety of people who menstruate."
Her motivation stems from the fact that periods are either not talked about at all, or talked about in the white-girl-skipping-down-the-beach-blue-liquid-on-a-maxi-pad type of way. As she says on the IndieGoGo page:
"I really wanted to make intersectional politics the core of this project, period talk is often dominated by the experiences of white cis women, this is a tiny tiny start to addressing that. It hopes to give a platform for discussion and raise questions about how we view menstruation."
