Plans for the Ghostbusters sequel were scuppered by the untimely death of Harold Ramis last year, the comedy icon who wrote the first two films. From what I recall, reports surfaced several months back which speculated that the third instalment would feature an all-female cast.
Paul Feig, who is scheduled to direct the sequel, seems to have confirmed this with a recent tweet:
The four actors are Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Wiig and McCarthy are always comedy cold, Jones and McKinnon SNL regulars. Negotiations are still going, but I'd doubt any of them would be inclined to turn down a part in a film that fans have been pining for for so long.
Let's hope it's good.
