DAVID CAMERON'S "PORN BLOCK" MIGHT BE BLOCKING POLITICAL CONTENT

12 Friday 12th December 2014
David Cameron and his porn block filter caused a stir back in 2013. The measures ensured that you made an 'unavoidable choice' if you wanted to view smut, meaning you had to 'opt-in' to get off.

The population squirmed as they were asked to admit whether they wanted access to stuff you wouldn't want your nephew to stumble across. As it's a prerequisite of Britishness to be awkward, polite and introverted, he probably caused a few folks to blueball due to a guilt-ridden reluctance to check the "Make Porn Happen" box. As dick moves go, you've got to hand it to David. That's checkmate on the Coalition's arsehole chessboard.

The problem lies with the term 'Adult Content'. By blocking 'Adult Content', you aren't just saying sayonara to "Suzies First Fisting", you're also going to have a pretty hard time finding out how to get over a comedown on the Bluelight forums. Or anything remotely non dinner table conversation appropriate for that matter.

Ray Corrigan, a researcher at the Open University, recently noticed that Virgin Media is blocking an APPG site relating to extraordinary rendition aka torture. Is Cameron trying to censor documents on the subject in light of the CIA leak? Or is Ray's laptop just acting up (Virgin said the site was hosting Malware, which is a plausible enough excuse).

To me, Cameron is nothing more than a scumbag who looks like C3PO covered in ham. But if he is slowly selling off our online freedoms to ISPs, then this is a truly scary time to be alive.
