In a recent moment of contemplation, I wondered how history would judge Obama. He was a president who promised so much yet appeared to deliver so little. Even if millions of Americans now have access to healthcare, Obama arguably failed to right the litany of domestic and foreign injustices he said he'd bring to an end. In short, I didn't know.
Now that it's almost been two terms since George W Bush left office, I think people would have an easier time defining Dubya's lasting impact on the world. Most would probably say 'bad', though these opinions would probably be pretty different had 9/11 never happened (duh). He would have been a footnote in the manner of Gerald Ford. A well-meaning simpleton who by some accident of fate was thrust into the most powerful seat in the world. Ford bumbled through it before he had time to fuck it up. Bush didn't.
Still, everytime I see him I think he's the potench war criminal I'd most like to play beer-pong with, even if he ran over the mailbox when he showed up to the house with a keg, shit-faced. Here he is doing the ice bucket challenge, obviously:
