The recent influx of refugees from areas like Syria has served as a serious challenge to Europe, with even prosperous countries struggling to adequately house displaced peoples and ensure community cohesion. While the latter requires mutual tolerance and compromise, the former issue has led to ad hoc responses such as housing refugees in High Chaparral. A Wild West themed resort located 250 miles southwest of Stockholm, it's a bustling tourist area around summertime. Now, with the permission of owner Emil Erlandsson, 500 Syrian refugees who travelled to Sweden from their war-torn home country live there; but with the once-welcoming Sweden now curtailing its refugee numbers and the resort set to reopen in May, this heartwarming, bizarre picture doesn't ignore the precarious reality.
Shouts to MEL Films for the film.
